How Hormones Affect Female Hair Loss
Female hair loss is strongly linked to hormones and hormonal imbalances. Many women lose their hair surrounded by a few months following pregnancy. The reason for this is related to hormones.
Hormone levels rise much during pregnancy, and estrogen levels fall, causing normal hair loss to be postponed. Approximately three or four months after childbirth hormone levels restore to their untreated levels, disturbing the hair growth and loss cycle. When this happens, the hair loss that did not occur during pregnancy happens all at once. Opportunely, the hair growth process stabilizes after this process and returns to normal after not much delay. Another link between female hair loss and hormones has to do with birth control. If a body is used to taking birth control, and it is suddenly not receiving them anymore, hair loss can occur. This problem is a direct result from the changes in the birth control routine, and hair will restore to its normal growth cycle promptly.
Menopause is also known to be a cause for female hair loss. With menopause, estrogen levels fall, and this can produce the side effect of hair loss.
The last relation between female hair loss and hormones is attributed to DHT, or DiHydrotestosterone. Because hair follicles are extremely sensitive to DHT, the outcome of augmented levels of DHT is often hair loss on a more stable level.
